Macmillan’s Coffee Mornings started in 1990, when a local fundraising committee decided to hold a coffee morning where people came along to meet and mingle – as they might ordinarily do – but donate the cost of their coffee to Macmillan in the process.
Last year Macmillan’s Coffee Morning organisers raised £8 million and this year’s event on Friday 30th September has been another huge success –they’ve already raised nearly £3 million and they’re still counting!
Like The Big Lunch it’s a simple idea that takes place across the UK bringing people together for a good cause. The Big Lunch is a great opportunity to fundraise and raise awareness of a charity close to your heart. Over the last 3 years The Big Lunch has been used successfully as a fundraising event for a wide variety of causes, from the local Children’s hospital, hospice or boat club to larger national charities such as Age UK and Macmillan Cancer Care.
Since 1991, Macmillan Coffee Mornings have raised over £60 million in total for Macmillan Cancer Support. Why not use your Big Lunch to fundraise for charity or an important cause? If you want to fundraise for a charity then check out these online options:
