Last minute inspiration

Big_lunch_prepsWith six days to go plans will be well under way for most Big Lunchers, but if you’re a bit stuck for ideas or in need of some last minute inspiration we’re here to help.

There are lots of great games and activity suggestions to keep the children (and grown-ups) entertained from traditional hop scotch and tug of war to the more modern street karaoke. Or you could get the whole street to learn the Big Jubilee Dance.

For yummy treats try our website and our blog where we’ve just had a week of recipe ideas perfect for sharing with your neighbours, and check out this special Diamond Jubilee Grace for communities to mark the start of their Big Lunches.

Don’t forget to brighten up your area with a bit of homemade bunting it’s easier than you might think and instantly transforms your street or venue, but if that sounds too difficult, colourful paper chains are just as brilliant and with the children helping you’ll have enough to string up in no time at all.

So plenty to get on with but make sure you involve your neighbours too and make the preparations as fun as the day itself – after all, it’s what The Big Lunch is all about.

We live in Temple Way, Farnham Common, SL2 3HE, Bucks. I have organised Diamond Jubilee Party on Sunday 3rd June at 15.00 hrs. We have 13 houses in Cul-de-sac
We will be putting up Marquee etc. There will be around 35 people including some children. We hope to enjoy to-gether Queen’s 60th years in reign. We will have plenty of drinks, food etc. and Barbacu. We will have Quiz, Raffle and music etc. We hope to enjoy the day whether it is sunny or raining.

Good luck to Ram Bedi and everyone in Temple Way, Farnham.
The community of Rudford and Highleadon in Gloucestershire is celebrating on Sunday with a ‘Bring and Share’ lunch at the Village Hall. Everyone has promised lots of food, we’ve got 1950s Top Hits and some stunning raffle prizes in aid of the locally based charity ‘Winston’s Wish’ for bereaved children and ‘The Pied Piper Appeal’, supporting sick and disabled children in the county. Let it rain and let’s party!

A last minute game to prepare is “pin the crown on the queen’. There are lots of free pictures of the queen in national newspapers at the moment. Just pin one on the wall, cut out a picture if the Jubilee crown and stick a blob of blue tac on the back of the crown all you need then is a blindfold and kids.
